He still remembered that awful moment when he’d realized Minkah found sexual release with someone else. He didn’t know what he would have done had it not been for his father’s unexpected help.

Perhaps he would have lost his mind. Worst of all, he was not even entitled to feel betrayed. Minkah considered him a son and nothing more.

The only way he could fix things would be telling the truth, and Kephri felt so very afraid. Could Minkah accept and forgive his lies?

Would he reject Kephri if he knew? Just the thought made Kephri recoil and abandon the idea. It was a vicious circle, and he couldn’t find a way out of the lies he himself had spun.

Suddenly depressed, Kephri checked his appearance one last time.

A silver-haired, quicksilver-eyed beauty analyzed him from the electronic mirror and gave him an approving nod a few seconds later.

Now for the final touch. Kephri retrieved his prized holographic cube and activated it. The silver of his hair and eyes turned to midnight black, and a golden sheen appeared on his ivory skin. His identity safely hidden, Kephri abandoned the mirror and exited his room, still lost in thoughts of his soul mate.
